Dawn Brisbane Water

Born in England and arriving in Australia aged 8, George won a local art prize while still at school then went on to study at the National Art School, East Sydney.

He was an elected member of the Contemporary Art Society at 16, their youngest ever member and was the subject of a glowing article by the then Sydney Morning Herald art critic.

After leaving art school George worked as a commercial artist in both London and New York with leading advertising companies during the early 1960s. On returning to Australia, he opened his own graphic design agency; Art Direction Associates which continued successfully until 1984, when he left the commercial world to concentrate on painting full time.

From that time until today he has held more than 50 one man and joint exhibitions, his works have been shown nationally and internationally including the USA, Taiwan and China.

His works have attracted numerous prestigious prizes, have appeared in many art publications and have been added to the corporate collections of international companies.

George is a Fellow of The Royal Art Society of New South Wales and served on its council in the 1990’s and is also an Exhibiting member of the Australian Watercolour Institute.
