Born in Sydney.  In the early 70's Judy joined the Royal Art Society Art School and studied with Allan Hansen and was later guided into watercolours with Frederic Bates.  In 1978 she was awarded the Royal Art Society's James R Jackson Award and in 1984 she received the RAS Diploma.

Judy paints in both oils and watercolours and is well known as a portrait artist.  Her landscapes in oils are dramatic and strong, her watercolours, soft and delicate.

Judy won the Portia Geach Memorial Award in 1980 and has been a finalist on several occasions; also been a finalist in the Archibald Portrait Prize and the Doug Moran National Portrait Priz.

She has had several solo and joint exhibitions and regularly exhibits at the Society.  Represented in private collections throughout Australia, England, Germany, Japan and the USA.  Judy taught portraiture and still life at the RAS Art School for 15 years and did numerous workshops in both.  Judy was elected to Fellow of the Society in 1988 and became the first woman President in the long history of the Society (est. 1880) in 2000 and served until March 2015.

Judy was elected as Vice Patron of the Society in July 2015.
