Martin Campbell FRAS
Martin Campbell is a Sydney based artist who works in oil. He began painting seriously while living in Newcastle and on his return to Sydney he enrolled in a plein air group through the Royal Art Society under the guidance of Joseph Bezzina. Over the years his work has shifted towards industrial landscape and the working harbour and more recently he has been painting skies in a more contemporary style. He is still very passionate about the landscape and enjoys sharing this passion with fellow painters on regular plein air painting trips. He is also a keen model ship builder.
Martin is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of NSW, a Fellow the Australian Society of Marine Artists and a member of the Sydney Model Shipbuilders Club. He was the inaugural Artist-in-Residence at the Sydney Heritage Fleet shipyard. In 2012, he won the ANL Mission to Seafarers Art Prize. He is also the winner of the d’Arcy Doyle Art Prize, Singleton Art Prize and the Thora Ungar Art Prize at the Royal Art Society of NSW.
