Parisa Madani
Parisa is living and practicing Art in her studio in Sydney. She works across a variety of media including drawing, painting, silk painting and digital work. She completed her BSC in Textile design and print at The Art university of Tehran before moving to Australia in 2010. She also completed an advanced diploma degree in illustration at Enmore Design Centre, Sydney. She draws on influences such as Persian classical literature, Persian motives, patterns and botanical beauty of her new home.
Besides her love for literature, she has always admired the beauty of botanical gardens. She often finds herself immersed in their poetical beauty and the feeling is indescribable.
She says: “I admire everything about them; their shape, unique forms and lines. Even when they dry out, they still hold a perfect charm. I could wonder in their exquisiteness in eternity, in the same way I find myself lost in the grace and magnificence of poems.”
She is using these references to make a new language for her paintings. Parisa’s paintings introduce part of her culture by using vivid colours and patterns and rhythm which come from her background as an Iranian woman.
She started her career as an artist by selling her wearable silk painting and then she had her first solo painting exhibition in 2021.
Also, she has made digital works such as an educational interactive eBook called “The merchant and The parrot” based on one of Rumi’s poetry.
